Browse: Home / 1 Month Car Insurance / Backed my car into a pole, insurance about to renew in 1 month….should I wait until after renewal????
By admin on March 22, 2011
Should I lie and tell the insurance company it just happened once I renew my insurance?
. I wanted to wait until renewal because then the insurance company will have a locked in rate for my insurance until the next renewal and since there are no accidents prior my rate will be lower for another year, But I also worry that if I wait 2-3 days after renewal they will think something’s up and get me with insurance fraud or something…..since I have already been to 1 local business to get a repair quote

Yeah. Wait.
Unless someone else was involved or there was a police report.
Otherwise, wait.
.
you must be honest even if it hurts your wallet and driving record. Why do you think rates are high–yes from people being dishonest………………….
Will they even cover it? Unless you have collision on the policy, they won’t since it was your fault. If you do have collision, go ahead and report it now and get it fixed, never lie to the insurance. They will fix it, less your deductible if any. I doubt one claim will raise your rates.
Can you say “fraud”? Well, golly, gee, you already did! If you go in next month, and say it just happened, they will look at the marks, see rust, and the effects of time on the damaged paint, and they will know. And yes, there is that little matter of a quote on record. Take it from me, I am an insurance broker, and I have seen people caught before. A little lie is enough to totally disquality a claim that would otherwise have been paid, even if they don’t pursue charges.
most likely it states in your policy that you need to report a claim in a timely manner, and since your insurance renews in 1 month, your carrier has probably already started the renewal process usually 30-45 prior to the renewal date and most carrier do not add violations during a renewal term, so I would say you are safe, but you do need to look at the cost of repair vs cost of insurance increase.
Sweetie- you say “or they will get me with insurance fraud or something”… its not something…WHAT YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO COMMIT IS INSURANCE FRAUD!
Sure, you might get away with.. but one slip up…. one little spot of rust that shows the damage is old…and you are going to be facing alot more then a raised quote on insurance. Can you say, legal consequences and denied claims!
I cant believe youd even consider it!
SAME QUESTION AGAIN…………SAME ANSWER AGAIN
THIS IS CALLED INSURANCE FRAUD AND YOU COULD FACE JAIL TIME AS WELL AS A STIFF FINE.
