If he wants to pay for the damage himself, fine. Just make sure he is going to pay for a good job. You don’t want a bungled repair. Any sign of trouble from him backing out or wanting to cut back on the cost of repairs, then contact your insurance and let THEM chase his insurance. I live in England and don’t know what you mean by ‘no fault law’. If you mean that neither driver is held responsible for the accident and each driver has to pay for his own repairs, then i think you should go and storm the building that holds the idiots responsible for making such a law and beat them with a shitty stick until they come to their senses and change it! Otherwise, that would mean that i can go out and buy a old wreck, get really angry one night, or just bored, and go and play ‘crash the car’ into as many other cars as i can until mine finally conks out. And i’m not held responsible?
If that is the case, then go and buy the cheapest road legal wreck you can find and keep ramming his until his car is destroyed, and or you feel better:)
    And then his wife’s car.
    AND then his kid’s car.
If yours is still going, have a crack at his neighbour’s car too!
Nothing worse than having the neighbours from hell living next door:)

You can’t make him pay anything out of pocket. He hit your car, and gave you his insurance information. Make a claim for your losses and get your car fixed. No, you aren’t claiming on your collision over something you did, so there will be no deductible. No, your premiums won’t go up. Well, they might but not for something that didn’t cost your insurance anything and was not your fault. Mine seems to go up yearly with no claims just because they can.

No fault refers to injuries only. In NY the at-fault driver’s insurance will cover the damages to your vehicle. You cannot make him pay out of pocket if he has insurance.
